VPH is a certified Primary Stroke Center, recognized for its rapid response protocols that can save lives, and a certified Cardiac STEMI Receiving Center, delivering effective cardiac care within the critical 90-minute window after the onset of chest pain. The Emergency Department is also designated as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP), with specialized capabilities to care for children experiencing medical emergencies. Since 2017, VPH has been designated as a Pediatric Medical Center by the County of Los Angeles, supported by a 32-bed Level III NICU and a 25-bed Pediatric Department for children with serious medical conditions.
The hospital has received the LA Daily News Readers Choice Award for Best Hospital for twenty consecutive years, a recognition driven entirely by community votes.
