Ron Richards is a Moderator and Athletic Coach. An accomplished Educator and Mentor, Richards is backed by a broad range of experience and professional skills.
Educational Background
Ron Richards is a proud graduate of Henry Ford II High School, where he graduated in 1980. Richards then continued his education at Michigan State University (MSU), where he earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering. Determined to diversify his knowledge and expertise, Richards’ journey in education and academia was far from over after the completion of his Bachelor’s degree. He later would go on to complete graduate studies at Wayne State University to earn his Master of Arts (MA) in Secondary Education and Teaching, with a Major concentration in Physics and a Math Minor. This experience solidified his expertise as an Educator and Teacher. But it was only just the beginning, of course. Seeking to diversify his expertise through a broad range of experience and professional skills, Richards went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Philosophy. Additionally, Richards maintains a Bachelor of Sacred Theology (STB) from Pontifical Gregorian University.
Physics Teacher
Brother Rice High School
After completing his Master of Arts (MA) in Secondary Education and Teaching, Ron Richards took on a role as a Teacher at Brother Rice High School. For nine years, Richards taught Physics and Math. But that was only the tip of the iceberg of his role at Brother Rice High School! He was also active in extracurricular activities and programs at the school. He stood as a Producer of the theater program, as well as the Varsity Swim Coach.
Swimming & Diving Coach
Ron Richards was the Varsity Swim Coach at Brother Rice High School for five years. During this time, he was named the MISCA Coach of the Year twice, Michigan Coach of the Year once and nominated as National Coach of the Year. Under his guidance, mentoring and athletic coaching, the Brother Rice High school swim program brought home five state titles and three national titles. In 2018, Richards was elected into the Brother Rice High School Sports Hall of Fame for his accomplishments and contributions to the swim program.
