Lonson Becker is a former college football player and a lifelong athlete. A US Navy veteran, Becker hopes to work with veterans in a way that blends his passion for sports with his commitment to military service.
For Lonson Becker, sports have always been a way of life. A team player through and through, camaraderie is at Becker’s core. From his time on the lacrosse and football fields to his navigation on the battlefield as a member of the U.S. Navy, representing his team has always been key. Today, in his volunteer work with fellow veterans and his professional pursuits, his dedication to the team dynamic strengthens his approaches across the board.
Football Player
While attending Staples High School, he represented the Boys’ Lacrosse team as Captain. Leading his teammates on and off the field, Becker fully embraced the responsibilities his title called for. A team player through and through, his experience as Team Captain shaped his commitment to inclusive leadership, which continues to remain paramount in his approaches.
In addition to his high school lacrosse career, Lonson Becker also played on the Staples football team. Until 2006, when he graduated from SHS, Becker played the positions of Running Back and Defensive Lineman, based on the team’s need. To say the least, his high school football career was decorated with achievements! Out of an array of accomplishments, the highlights include 1st Team All-Area, 1st Team All-State and 1st Team All-FCIAC.
While attending Ithaca College and UMass Amherst, Lonson Becker continued to play football. Much like his experiences in high school, Becker’s college football career was filled with numerous highlights; including making it to the first round of the NCAA playoffs while playing for the Ithaca College Bombers.
