Dr. Scott Teitelbaum is a trusted Board Certified Addiction Medicine Specialist at the University of Florida. He is nationally recognized for his evaluation and treatment of healthcare professionals and other professionals suffering from the disease of addiction.
Dr. Teitelbaum attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He then went on to Rochester University in New York to earn his Doctor of Medicine. At the University of Connecticut, Dr. Scott Teitelbaum completed both an internship as well as a residency in Pediatrics. Upon completion of his residency, he successfully completed Postdoctoral Fellowships in Addiction Medicine as well as a Fellowship in Child Psychiatry at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Currently, Dr. Scott Teitelbaum is the Vice Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and the Division Chief of Addiction Medicine at the University of Florida. He also works as a professor at the university in both the Department of Psychiatry and the Department of Pediatrics. He is a part of the largest fellowship training program in the nation and has taught numerous special lectures on topics including addiction medicine, pediatrics, physician impairment, human behavior, and more.
Over the course of his extensive career, Dr. Scott Teitelbaum has had the opportunity to do consulting work with a variety of professionals including:

- The New York Yankees
- The Florida Professionals Resource Network
- The Intervention Project for Nurses
- The National Football League
Recently, Dr. Scott Teitelbaum was honored for his work and leadership in addiction medicine. He was awarded the Pottash professorship in psychiatry in the College of Medicine. Established in 1991, this honor recognizes a professor who is a nationally recognized leader in addiction medicine. Dr. Teitelbaum received this award upon demonstrating a strong clinical focus and pursuing and sharing research related to addiction treatment and intervention.
Dr. Scott Teitelbaum’s commitment to providing quality care for his patients and knowledge for future addiction medicine professionals is demonstrated in his numerous teaching awards, national lectures, and exceptional work in over 40 states across the country.
