As a freelance photographer, outdoorsman, and avid environmentalist, Pankaj Saharia is inspired to spread awareness and knowledge about the world, nature and the environment through art and volunteer work.

It all began with a subscription to National Geographic…

When Pankaj Saharia was a young boy, his parents surprised him with a subscription to the magazine made famous for its documentation of nature, animals, geography and culture:  National Geographic. The gift was offered to him in hopes that it would inspire his budding interest in the world and the art of photography. Pankaj Saharia was completely enraptured by the photos printed across the pages of the magazine.  Today, he is still an avid subscriber of NatGeo. He cites the photographers published in the periodical as his inspirations.

Environmentalism

Throughout the years, Pankaj Saharia’s work as a Freelance Nature Photographer has taken him across the globe.  He has encountered many stunning sights in his travels. But sadly, his adventures have also exposed him to the harsh realities of pollution and deforestation.  This has prompted him to work with various environmental organizations, including:

• Sierra Club
• The Nature Conservancy
• Environmental Defense Fund

Nature Photography

Saharia hopes to use his art for the benefit of the environment.  Predominantly, his Freelance Nature Photography has been a hobby of passion.  But he hopes to expand his portfolio by working directly with environmental organizations and wildlife charities.  Pankaj Saharia has a knack for snapping photos of animals in their natural habitats. Rather than showcasing animals in enclosures at zoos, he prefers to portray animal life in a more natural and realistic manner.  The intimate nature of visiting an animal on its own home turf particularly appeals to the Nature Photographer.

Pankaj Saharia enjoys documenting a wide range of subjects.  Apart from wildlife, his portfolio also contains photos of:

• Plants and trees
• Bodies of water
• Sunsets and sunrises

He hopes to diversify his portfolio by incorporating different subjects.  In particular, he is interested in beginning a project in which he documents the relationship between humans and animals.
